A newsletter is well overdue.
I have been inundated lately with spam lately, and as a result many genuine emails are being filtered. In fact, the situation now is such that most people now have virtually two email folders. A primary one, which is checked first, and a secondary one which is checked (surprise surprise) second. The latter, of course, is the spam folder.
The end result is that we may as well have no spam filter at all, since the spam has to be checked anyway to make sure it is spam. There's a good quiz question for you. What is the derivation of the term 'spam'? Answer after the quiz answers. I am installing a new (to me) spam filter called Spam Arrest. I like the way this works. You can download your address book to it as with most spam filters. Also, however, you can verify email addresses and have them added to an approved list by asking the person you are emailing to click on a reply link. Once clicked, Spam Arrest allows all email from that address through, even if the subject and content containing highly 'spam-like' terms such as numbers or words like 'freenet', 'loan', 'viagra' and 'casino'.
I don't know why these words are classed as highly prone to be filtered out since all are items which many people need or use regularly! This is a very useful program - have a look at how it works:

And now back to quizzes.
For those of you who have just joined us, this is the thing about a personal site. You don’t get the full corporate sell and crazy prices – mine are affordable, and the cheapest on the net – especially my free stuff. My free stuff is cheaper than any other sites free stuff. My wife suggested that might be why I don’t make as much money as them.
Did I tell you about my book? I have written an eBook about writing and hosting quizzes. A spent a lot of time on this, giving my life’s experience in quizzing, which is considerable. I can't believe all the youngsters online trying to sell their experience in quizzes - I have probably forgotten more than they have learned. I have never had anyone tell me that they have had a better experience in life than my quizzes (except sex). Or getting drunk doing them. Or getting married. Or having children (though I think I'll leave that to the women).
I usually end up giving many of my quizzes away free. I'm not going to do that with the book, though.
Check it out here: Quiz Secrets Revealed!
I have sold a few but I don't think I will be able to retire just yet. Also, a special mention for Marj Meyers. She was the only one who got all the answers correct in my first free quiz for cash several months ago. We agreed that she would get a free copy of my book. It’s on its way Marj. Well done.
It is selling at £19.99 but I am making a special offer until 7th October. You can have it for £12.99. The quizzes you get are worth much more than this. Just click on the link above to have a look at it. Ignore the price on the sales page - that's what everyone else pays, not my pro-quiz site members.

I'm sorry to those who have purchased it at the correct price, but this offer is to my quiz site customers and those who have joined the quiz site from other webpages. It will end on 7th October when it will go back to £19.99. This offer is available to you if you received this newsletter, irrespective of your country or currency. Just pay by PayPal or credit card and your card provider will do the conversion math.
Bother- I have just had to type this thing a few times over since I didn’t notice I had ‘Insert’ on!! Have you ever done that? It’s a sod isn’t it. Especially if like me you wrongly like to think you can touch type so don’t look at the screen then depend on Spellcheck to sort it for you!!

SPAM: takes its name from the Monty Python's Flying Circus song of the same name, which repetitively chants spam spam spam spam spam spam spam spam.
Sometime during the weekend I will have an interactive quiz up and running on the website, so give it a try. It is free and it has a highest score feature. Try it for a week or so while I add to the question database, then I can give a prize to the highest scorer every month, plus one to the highest scorer in a selected subject (I will choose at random) each week. Just log into pro-quiz.com from Saturday onward and you will see it.
That's that till next time. I will make sure you don't have to wait so long for the next one!
Stay cool and enjoy your quizzing.

I think that since it's been so long since the last newsletter that I should give you something else. So for those of you who are struggling for a quiz tonight, or this weekend, here is something for you. It is one of the earlier weekly quizzes: QuizA-02. It is in pdf format. A copy of Acrobat can be downloaded from my Services page if you need one. It is free.
