Hello all.

Its been a while since the last newsletter.  I just don't know where the time goes these days!  I've got loads of new quizzes to put up on the site, but I've been so busy doing other things and time just seems to fly.

The winner of our first online quiz was Erin from New Zealand.  A fine name Erin - its an Anglicized form of  the Irish name Eireann, derived from Eirinn meaning Ireland, or western island.  It can also mean peace.  In fact the romantic name for Ireland is Erin.  Erin should have by now have a copy of Quiz Secrets Revealed plus all the bonuses.  If not please email me at pete@pro-quiz.com Erin, and I will take care of it.

Other winners with their prizes are Shamal and Manoj.  There are three winners without their prize at the moment because I do not know their email address.  As far as I can make out they registered for the online quiz but not for the newsletter.  There is no email address required for the quiz, so unless they register for the newsletter and give me an email address, I have nowhere to send the prizes.

They may have used a different user name for the online quiz, so if so their user names are: Smarteeva, Jagoda and Hetherington.  Please contact me if you are reading this.

Your 20 question quiz this time is on Blockbusters.

I'll give the answers later.  Someone (Marty) wrote in to ask what you do about cheats.  There are a number of ways of cheating.  A WAP phone can be used, but it is so slow at the moment that it's probably not worth doing.  If anyone does try they should be warned.  Another way is to bring in a crib sheet with recent events such as who was the latest to be evicted from Big Brother or whatever.  Another is to try to copy other team's answers or for two teams to blatantly swap answers.  There are other ways; I have seen people with mini encyclopaedias.  However, how do you stop it?

The most effective way I have found is to penalize the cheating team - I normally apply a five point penalty for the first offence, ten for the second and expulsion for the last.  I will state this at the start of the quiz if I feel it necessary, then apply it without warning.  If I don't make it clear at the start, and see someone cheating, I will warn the team, and the whole room, and point out to the offending team that they were all in danger of being penalized because of the actions of the one individual.

That normally works.  If someone is caught cheating by me, they either stop doing it, or try to be more efficient at it so that they are not caught.  I haven't found any other effective method.  Toothless warnings are no good, and you don't really want to kick out a team for one offence.  So penalties are best.

I now have a free 5 round quiz for you.  To those of you new to the site, you get two newsletters automatically - when you register and 6 days later.  You then get them whenever I send them, and back-issues can be obtained from the website.  Whenever I leave to long a time between newsletters I generally give away a quiz.  This makes me try to be on time so I save the quiz, but it rarely works, much to the benefit of my customers.

Answer sheets can be obtained from the SUPPLIES page as can an unzipper if required.

The quiz comes in word or PDF format so download here:  WORD or PDF.
